Lossless is a series of short films by Rebecca Baron and Douglas Goodwin, each a found film taken apart and digitally reworked. Inspired by file-sharing, they manipulate the technology beneath the image — compressing it, removing keyframes and other "essential" digital information — so that what the translation loses gives rise to new material forms. Lossless #2 reworks Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid's Meshes of the Afternoon (1943); Lossless #3 strips the keyframes from John Ford's The Searchers to render a kinetic painted desert.
